PHZ SM Lacpol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The PHZ SM Lacpol Sp. ( Przedsiębiorstwo Handlu Zagranicznego Spółdzielni Mleczarskich Lacpol Sp. W Warszawie ) is a milk processor in Poland and, with sales of around EUR 200 million of the ten largest dairy companies in the country. The company is based in Warsaw in the Masovian Voivodeship .

history

The company was founded in 1982 as a foreign trade company of Polish cooperative dairies and began operations in 1988 after the formerly sole Polish export company Polcoop lost its foreign trade monopoly . Initially, the Association of Polish Cooperative Dairies (today: Krajowy Związek Spółdzielni Mleczarskich ZR ) was the sole shareholder of Lacpol; later the shares were transferred to the individual cooperatives. The company has had up to 100 shareholders in its history, including the RSM Rolmlecz dairy, which is the company's largest shareholder with almost 30%.

With the possibility for these shareholder dairies to export their products under their own brands, which has existed for several years, the business model of Lacpol changed. In addition to the increasing processing of milk in its own production facilities and the provision of services for the shareholders, Lacpol is now also selling its own products on the Polish market. This was accompanied by a structural change in the range. In the past, the company produced almost exclusively dry products (particularly suitable for export), but today it is increasingly investing in production facilities for fresh products. Lacpol's best known brand is Mleczna Smaki Świata ( Milk Flavor of the World ).

When some of the Lacpol shareholders had financial difficulties in the early 1990s, Lacpol supported these companies with its own funds.

Meanwhile a successful supplier on the Polish market, Lacpol has increasingly become a competitor for its own shareholders in recent years. Large Polish dairies ( Mlekpol , Polmlek , Mlekovita ) are therefore trying to increase their shares in Lacpol in order to increase their influence on corporate management. In 2008 Mlekpol took over RSM Rolmlecz, the largest shareholder in Lacpol.

It exports to many European countries, and since 2009 also to Russia, the Balkans, Algeria and Yemen. The main export products are milk powder and cheese curds .

In summer 2006 the German Nordmilch AG (today: Deutsches Milchkontor ) announced a collaboration with the Lacpol subsidiary Proszkownia Mleka in Piotrków Kujawski . A new plant is to be built together, the products of which will later be managed by Nordmilch. The new plant for the production of semi-hard cheeses such as Gouda , Edam and Tilsiter in blocks of 3 kg and 15 kg was to be designed for an annual capacity of 20,000 tons.

The managing director of Lacpol is Kazimierz Łoś.
