The Mlekovita Dairy Cooperative (Spółdzielnia Mleczarska) , which is run in the form of a holding company (Grupa Kapitałowa), is the second largest milk processor in Poland. The company's turnover in 2009 was around EUR 480 million.

history

The dairy dates back to the establishment of a milk processing company in 1928 in Wysokie Mazowieckie in the Podlaskie Voivodeship , where it still has its headquarters today. At that time, cheese and butter were produced by 30 employees. After the Second World War , in 1947 and again in 1950, the production of this company was expanded to include the production of cream, Twaróg ( cheese curd ) and ice cream. From 1957 the company was transformed into a dairy cooperative (Okręgowa Spółdzielnia Mleczarska - OSM). In the 1980s the dairy had only 62 employees. In 1992 this was given the name "Mlekovita". Today, around 1,500 people are employed at Mlekovita, who process the production of around 6,000 milk-producing companies.

After various acquisitions Mlekovita features in addition to the production facilities in Wysokie Mazowieckie through branches and warehouse facilities in Baranowo , Bielsk Podlaski , Bialystok , Chrzanów , Działdowo , Goreczyno , Jadowniki , Kluczbork , Kowalewo Pomorskie , Lubawa , Łódź , Morąg , Piaseczno , Pieniężno , Pilica , Wyszków and Zakopane .

Well-known brands of the company are “Darek” (yoghurt), “Deliser” (cheese), “Favita” (cheese), “Sokół” (cheese) and “Wypasione” (milk).

Mlekovita is a member of the Krajowy Związek Spółdzielni Mleczarskich ZR association .
