Mlekpol

Mlekpol ( Spółdzielnia Mleczarska MLEKPOL w Grajewie , also SM MLEKPOL for short ) is a Polish dairy cooperative and the largest dairy company in Poland .

The company's history began in 1976 with the decision to build the first dairy in Grajewo . In 1980 the local district corporation started operating. After the political change, the company renamed itself Mlekpol in 1993; Edmund Borawski , who previously managed dairies in Sanok and Krosno , took over the management of the company .

Further locations were opened around the turn of the millennium in Ełk and Kolno ; in 2007, with a turnover of 1.8 billion zlotys, a net profit of 48 million zlotys was achieved. In 2008 the company had the following locations: Grajewo, Kolno, Mrągowo , Sejny , Augustów and Zambrów (since 2003) and Bydgoszcz (since 2005), in the same year the Polish competitor Somlek was taken over. The following locations were added in 2015: Radom , Sokółka , Dąbrowa Białostocka , Zwoleń and Gorzów Wielkopolski . All dairies specialize in certain products, so that not every location produces the full range of products.

Mlekpol produces the "Łaciate" brands, "Milko" and "Mazurski Smak" and with over 40% market share of the Polish market leader in long-life milk . Milk with added flavors, butter, yogurt, quark, cheese and milk powder is sold in many countries. A third of Mlekpol's Polish production is exported, milk powder makes up almost two thirds of this.
