The PSV Concordia Gropiusstadt was a German sports club from Berlin that existed from 1921 to 1999.
Police SV Berlin / SG OrPo Berlin
Concordia Gropiusstadt was founded in 1921 under the name SV Schutzpolizei Berlin . In the following year, the police sports club changed its name to Police SV Berlin and was able to establish itself on a sporting level in the Berlin Oberliga.
In 1934, after successfully qualifying over Spandauer BC , the PSV was promoted to the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg for the first time , which the Berliners had to leave after only one season with Union Oberschöneweide and 1. FC Guben . In 1939 the club returned to the top German league for one season, but had no chance in the Gauliga, which was divided into two for the first time, with only one point. In 1941, the police SV was renamed SG OrPo Berlin , OrPo Berlin was able to hold the Gauliga from 1941 to 1943 for the first time. In 1944, the police once again briefly occupied the Gauligaplatz of the previously disbanded Luftwaffe SV Berlin , but the game was stopped prematurely due to the chaos of war.
Police SV Berlin / PSV Concordia Gropiusstadt
After 1945 there was no immediate re-establishment, any participation in the Berlin City League did not take place. It was not until 1949 that the club was re-established as Police SV Grün-Weiß Berlin , but was briefly dissolved again in 1950. In 1952 the club reappeared under its old name Police SV Berlin . While a police sports club already existed in the championship in the eastern part of the city with the transfer of the SG Volkspolizei Potsdam to Berlin, the police SV Berlin competed in the western part. Here the club was a fixture in the Berlin amateur league for many years . The best result was the championship in the amateur league in 1960. The PSV waived the league promotion , so that the second-placed BFC Südring rose.
In 1977 PSV was relegated from the amateur league, the Berliners should no longer play higher class. In 1991 the football department resigned from the Police SV and merged with 1. FC Concordia Gropiusstadt-Buckow to form PSV Concordia Gropiusstadt . In 1999 there was another merger, PSV Concordia merged with VfB Britz to form VfB Concordia Britz .
rugby
The SG Ordnungspolizei Berlin also had an extremely successful rugby department. The highlight was winning the German championship on May 17, 1942 with a 13: 9 victory over SC Germania List in Berlin. The intended return match in Hanover was no longer played. since this was forbidden by the Gausportführer - otherwise List would have been forced to mobilize young and injured players.
