Pablo Gabriel García Pérez (born May 11, 1977 in Pando , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player . His nickname is El Canario .

Player career

society

Pablo García began his career in Montevideo with the Montevideo Wanderers , where he made his professional debut in 1996 and for which he has at least first division appearances in the 1996 and 1997 Apertura . In 1997 he moved to the second agency of Atlético Madrid and was loaned to Real Valladolid . There he is in the squad in the 1997/98 season. This was followed by another loan to the Club Atlético Peñarol . In the Apertura 1998 he was again in the Uruguayan Primera División and played nine games for the "Aurinegros". He then joined Atlético Madrid. From 1998 to 2000 he was there in the second team, while in the first division eleven no sporting activities Garcías are statistically recorded. In 2000 he was signed by AC Milan and played five times in Serie A for the northern Italians . In the 2001/2002 season he was on loan in the ranks of league rivals AC Venice , although a contractual relationship with Milan is still registered. For the 2002/03 season he returned to Spain. He wore the jersey of the first division club CA Osasuna for three seasons before appearing 22 times for Real Madrid in the 2005/06 season. Celta de Vigo was his employer the following season. In 2007/08, Real Murcia signed him. Both engagements were each a loan deal with Real Madrid. Since 2008/09 he played for the Greek first division club PAOK . Due to differences with his coach Giorgos Donis , García finally dissolved his contract with the Greek club in March 2013. To date, he had played 109 league games for the Greeks and scored five goals. There were also ten national cup games (no goal), 23 Europa League games (one goal) and two games in the Champions League (no goal). In early July 2013, however, he returned to the Greek club, now coached by Huub Stevens , and signed a one-year contract. In the 2013/14 season, however, he only played two games in the national cup competition. On January 10, 2014, he joined Skoda Xanthi and signed a contract until the end of the year. He played three league games there, but terminated the contract on February 10, 2014. The further sporting future of the player, who is apparently free of contract according to Uruguayan press reports, is open. On several occasions, however, he has expressed the desire to end his career with Nacional Montevideo .

National team

Pablo García was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection , which finished fourth in the 1997 U-20 South American Championship in Chile . During the tournament he was used by coach Víctor Púa six times (one goal). He won the Vice World Championship title with the U-20 in 1997. In the Uruguayan U-23 team, he played five international matches (two goals) at the "Torneo Preolímpico" in Brazil in 2000. He was the captain of the Uruguayan senior team and made his debut in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup against the United Arab Emirates on December 13, 1997, to October 17, 2007, when he made his last World Cup qualifier against Paraguay Used for the Celeste, 66 international matches, in which he succeeded in two personal goals. The local press voted him the best national player in Uruguay at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. He also took part in the Copa América 1999 and the Copa América 2007 .

Coaching

After retiring from his active career in 2014, he returned to PAOK Saloniki in May 2015. However, no role as a player was planned for him, but an initially unspecified coordinating function within the team. He lives in Saloniki and is (as of May 2018) the trainer of the U-17 at PAOK Saloniki. In the 2016/17 season Garcia won the Greek championship with the U-17. In 2017/18, and this time as coach of the U-20s of PAOK FC, he was able to secure the Greek championship of the age group for the club.
