Pablo Landeo Muñoz (* 1959 in Huancavelica , Peru ) is a Peruvian writer , translator and literary scholar who writes in Spanish and Chanka-Quechua . Because of his Quechua prose, he is counted among the most important Quechua authors .

Career

Pablo Landeo Muñoz studied language and literature at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima , where he also wrote his master's thesis on narratives in the Andean tradition. He is currently a lecturer in Quechua at INALCO in Paris .

Literary work

In 2011 his volume of poetry, Los hijos de Babel , was published in Spanish . In 2013 he published a series of short stories from the Huancavelica region in Chanka Quechua under the title Wankawillka , with Spanish translations and a subsequent study in Quechua.

In his novel Aqupampa , published in 2016, he deals with the issue of migration to the cities against the background of the violence of Sendero Luminoso during the armed conflict in Peru . This is the first Quechua novel to be published without a translation into Spanish, the most extensive original prose work in Quechua to date, and the first to be set in an urban setting.

Pablo Landeo Muñoz is currently the director of the literary magazine Atuqpa Chupan ("The Fox's Tail"), which is published once a year and entirely in Quechua .
