Pac attack

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pac-Attack ( Japanese パ ッ ク ア タ ッ ク , Pakku-Atakku ), in some countries also Pac-Panic , is a game of skill with puzzle elements , which was published for various game consoles from summer 1993 .

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar to that of Tetris , but has a few peculiarities. As in the example, blocks fall down, but they consist of three instead of four squares. If a row is completely filled, it dissolves and points are awarded. Most of the time the well-known ghosts are also present, but only the red one, Blinky , appears. Like the blocks described above, Pac-Man appears by chance , but not accompanied by a block or ghost. This must now be cleverly placed in order to eat up all ghosts that are on the same level or below. However, it only reaches coherent groups. Occasionally a fairy will appear (when the bar on the left is full) and make part of the blocks disappear, which is helpful. If the playing field is filled to the top, it means a game over .

The game gets faster and faster as the level increases . The aim is, as with other puzzlers, to achieve the highest possible high score .

Reviews

The game received mostly good reviews from the German trade press (based on the SNES version, which was also the first to appear):

  • Mega Fun 7/94: 85% (graphics 61%, sound 52%)
  • Total! 1/94: 2- (graphic 3/6, sound 4/6)
  • Video games 1/94: 82% (graphics 45%, sound 68%)

In the “classic test” of the M! Games for the CD-i are rated as follows:

"Sympathetic brooding of skill in the" Tetris "format: Pac-Man and his favorite ghosts pile up."

Remarks

The game is broadly the same as Cosmo Gang the Puzzle , which was released as an arcade game that same year . Only graphics and other little things were exchanged.
