Pae White (* 1963 in Pasadena ) is an American graphic designer and artist . She lives and works in Los Angeles , California , USA .

biography

She studied at the Center College of Design in Pasadena in the early 1990s . Pae White creates objects , sculptures and installations . The best-known works are mobiles made of cut-out and painted cardboard disks, leather, fabrics or snakeskin, which are suspended from ropes stretched from the floor to the ceiling. White's Plexiglas works consist of plates laid one on top of the other and fixed with adhesive. In this work, e.g. B. Pink Stage, 1995 , the glued stack of red Plexiglas is illuminated from below and throws a colored projection onto the wall. In the work Copy Cat Lab, 1998 there are plates in yellow tones and in the object Chat, in 1998 it is a red shimmering Plexiglas plate , pasted with copper foil. The deliberately unclean processing of the adhesive with air bubbles interacts with the basic geometric shape and the perfectionism of the Minimal Art objects by Donald Judd .

White also designed exhibition catalogs for the exhibition of the Schürmann Collection in the Kunsthalle of the Hypo-Kulturstiftung in Munich in 1995; together with Pardo , she designed the 1999 exhibition “Global Fun - Art and Design by Mondrian , Gehry , Versace and Friends” in the Leverkusen Museum Schloss Morsbroich . For the art, architecture and design What If exhibition at Moderna Museet Stockholm , she designed the catalog and small-format posters for each of the 30 artists.
