Pagan's Mind is a progressive metal band from Norway .

Band history

The band was founded in Porsgrunn / Skien in summer 2000 by Nils K. Rue, Stian Kristoffersen and Thorstein Aaby, who had previously played together in the metal band Silverspoon . Over the next few weeks the band was completed by Steinar Krokmo, Jørn Viggo Lofstad and Ronny Tegner. In the same year they recorded their first album. Infinity Divine was released in November 2000 on the Norwegian label "FaceFront".

On November 18, 2002 they released their second album Celestial Entrance on the German label Limb Music , which in 2004 also had their debut album re-recorded. The third studio album, enigmatic: calling , entered the Norwegian album charts at number 15 in 2005.

In 2004 Jørn Viggo Lofstad, Stian Kristoffersen and Ronny Tegner played Jørn Lande's solo album Out to Every Nation as well as a new edition of their own debut album Infinity Divine .

In November 2007 their new album God's Equation was released , which, like its predecessors, was recorded in Mediamaker Studios in Norway. Thorstein Aaby, the former guitarist and founding member of the band, passed away on July 24, 2007.

Apart from a small tour of Great Britain in March 2006, Pagan's Mind played mainly at festivals in Scandinavia. At the end of 2007 they toured Germany as the opening act for Fates Warning . In 2008 tours took place as opening act for Brainstorm , Powerwolf and Sonata Arctica , in 2009 another in North America with Stratovarius . In addition, Pagan's Mind often appears at the various “ProgPower” festivals that take place in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, the UK and the USA.

The album Heavenly Ecstasy was released under the new label SPV / Steamhammer in mid-May 2011. In the Norwegian charts, it rose to number 1 among Norwegian artists and number 10 among international artists.

Concerts in Belgium and Holland followed at the end of May, including at the Dokk'em Festival. The Dutch magazine Aardschok named Heavenly Ecstasy album of the month.

In June 2011 Pagan played on the main stage of the Graspop Festival in Belgium.

In September / October 2011 Pagan's Mind will go on a European tour with Symphony X and DGM .
