Pagarusha ( Albanian also Pagarushë , Serbian Пагаруша Pagaruša ) is a village in the municipality of Malisheva in central Kosovo .
The place is known for the singer and actress Nexhmije Pagarusha (1933-2020) who was born here .
geography
The village is located in a hilly area about seven kilometers as the crow flies east of Rahovec and eight kilometers south of Malisheva . A small asphalt road from Dragobil in the north to Dobërdelan and Mamusha in the south leads through the village.
The various districts in the hilly landscape are sometimes miles apart.
history
In the Kosovo war , after the OSCE left Kosovo on March 20, 1999 and the attacks and attacks by the Serbian police increased as a result, several thousand residents of the villages around Suhareka fled to Pagarusha, which at that time was already being held by the KLA . The Serbian military shelled Pagarusha on March 31, a few days after the NATO bombing began on March 24, killing two women. The internally displaced persons were then brought or sent by the KLA to Bellanica, where a five-figure number of refugees subsequently stayed.

Attractions
In Pagarusha there is a grain mill from the 19th century ( Mulliri i Islam Zenelit , "Islam-Zeneli-Mühle"), which is a cultural monument of the Republic of Kosovo.
