Palace Hotel Weber (1915)

The Palace Hotel Weber was built in 1911 according to a design by the architects Lossow & Kühne on the corner plot of Ostra-Allee / Postplatz in Dresden . The building, which was partially damaged in the Second World War, was demolished against the protest of the Dresden population in 1968.

description

The five- to six-storey building was built in the monumental style of reform architecture with baroque echoes. It was the architectural counterpart to the Dresden Schauspielhaus in the same place. The building had a curved facade that curved towards the Postplatz and was structured in a colossal order by pilaster strips .

A seven - window risalit was located in the middle of the facade, which showed two bay windows running over several floors with lavish Art Nouveau decor. The upper end of the risalit was formed by a high segmental arch - gable , in the tympanum of which a monumental relief could be seen.
