Palazzo Adoldo is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the Santa Croce sestiere overlooking the Grand Canal next to the Palazzo Foscari Contarini and not far from the Church of San Simeone Piccolo .

history

The palace has ancient roots; the Adoldo or Adoaldo family lived there ; she originally came from Greece , belonged to the Venetian patriciate and died out in 1432. A family member, Lucia Adoldo , donated the palace to the parish of San Simeone Piccolo, as can be seen from an inscription on the facade.

On the same stone it is noted that Vittore Spiera had the building rebuilt on a larger scale in 1520 because it was unsafe.

description

The facade consists of three full floors and a mezzanine floor under the roof.

On the converted ground floor there are simple, rectangular window openings in white stone. The two main floors, on the other hand, are characterized by a pair of single windows on each side (between which two half-reliefs are set on the first floor), set in stone frames, as well as a middle double window, supported by Ionic columns and closed by a parapet , in stone on the first floor and in wrought iron on the second floor.

The mezzanine floor under the roof has a peculiar top piece with a bezel over three small, square windows. At the highest point there is a statue of an eagle .
