The Nevado Palcaraju is located in the Peruvian Andes in the Cordillera Blanca . In addition to the 6,274 meter high main peak Palcaraju Centro, the mountain has the following peaks:
- Palcaraju Este (6180 m)
- Palcaraju Oeste (6110 m)
- Palcaraju Sur (5900 m)
In 1939 an expedition made the first ascent.
The Palcaraju belongs to the massif of the Chinchey group and the closest 6000 m peak is the Nevado Chinchey (6222 m), 5 km in an east-southeast direction.
The nearest town is Huaraz , 25 km to the southwest in Callejón de Huaylas .
