Act

Horst Bingel wrote mostly short, casual and surprising poems and stories that are characterized by wit, irony, punch line and bizarre and intricacy. Themes were the city, love, nature, politics, society and death.

His political poetry resembled songs that unveiled the grotesque and paradoxical. The writer Karl Krolow called his poems "written for the moment and for the moment", but his work remains topical.

His laconic remarks were shorthands with the task of rebelling against conventional thought patterns and thus disillusioning the reading public.
