The Palmer River is a river in the south of the Australian territory Northern Territory .

geography

River course

The river arises from the confluence of Illara Creek and Walker Creek at Tempe Downs, southwest of Finke Gorge National Park in the south of the Northern Territory. Both source rivers arise in the Gardiner Range, about 70 km further north-west . The Palmer River flows southeast from its source and passes under the Stuart Highway at Palmer Valley . 10 km further east it flows into the Finke River .
