The Macumba River is a river in the north of the Australian state of South Australia .

River course

The river has its source on Macumba Hill , around 50 kilometers north of Oodnadatta and south of Witjira National Park . It flows first to the east and then to the southeast along the southern edge of the Simpson Desert . North of Lake Eyre it flows into the Warburton River .

Tributaries with mouth heights

The Finke River mostly seeps into the eastern part of the Witjira National Park near the Simpson Desert. It only overflows into the Macumba River in very wet years.
