The Palmerton- class or type PK116 is a series of six multi-purpose heavy lift carriers of the Bremen shipping company Harren & Partner .

details

The ship was designed in the Norwegian design office Polarkonsult . It was the 116th construction by Polarkonsult, from which the type designation PK116 is derived. The ships were built and delivered in 2008 and 2010 by the Chinese shipyard Taizhou Kouan in Taizhou . All ships are classified by Germanischer Lloyd and chartered out to the Danish-German joint venture CombiLift on a long-term basis . Some units were in the meantime in charter of the Korean concern Hyundai . The ships are used in global tramp shipping .

In addition to heavy cargo, up to 596 standard containers can also be taken on board. In addition, bulk goods can be loaded.

The ship type has a single 90 meter long hold . It has a load capacity of around 10,000 tons and is equipped with two 450-tonne cranes from Liebherr , which can lift up to 900 tons in tandem operation.

The tank top , the floor of the approx. 16,500 ³ large loading space, can be loaded with up to 16 t / m². The adjustable tween decks enable a variable load compartment configuration and thus more flexible loading.

The ship's propulsion system consists of a MAN 6L48 / 60B engine , whose power of 7200 kW acts on a controllable pitch propeller and enables a speed of around 16 knots. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
