1973 African Games

The 1973 African Games were the second edition of this sports competition.

They took place from January 7th to January 18th 1973 in the National Stadium of the Nigerian capital Lagos . Successful athletes include Ohene Karikari , Alice Annum and Modupe Oshikoya . The soccer tournament was won by host Nigeria.

There was no volleyball tournament for women in Lagos in 1973 . The first women's tournament was only in 1978 with the III. Africa Games held in Algiers .
