Pantaleimon (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pantaleimon is an English music group led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Andria Degens.

Style and musical development

Due to the traditional acoustic instrumentation ( e.g. dulcimer , mandolin , bouzouki ), the band's music is often assigned to various alternative folk genres, a categorization that is consistently undermined by the electronic side ( drone elements, frequent use of harmonium ). Degens records many pieces alone, but is occasionally supported by guest musicians. a. Isobel Campbell (ex- Belle and Sebastian and The Gentle Waves ) and Baby Dee .

Pantaleimon's music is often described as fragile and melancholy. The first long player "Trees Hold Time" was released in 1999 by Durtro , initially followed by smaller releases and most recently the current CD "Mercy Oceans". In 2008 a remix version of this album was released, "Heart of the Sun" , which featured arrangements by Andrew WK , Andrew Liles , Stephen O'Malley ( Sunn O))) ), Cosey Fanny Tutti ( Chris & Cosey ) and others are. Pantaleimon contributed music to an art exhibition by Susan Strenger (also a member of Band of Susans ), as well as to several albums by Current 93 , the band of Degens' husband David Tibet and the soundtrack of the American film "Wild Tigers I Have Known" Director Cam Archer also shot the video clip for the Pantaleimon song "We Love".
