Paola Barbara

Paola Barbara , actually Paola Proto (born July 22, 1912 in Rome , † October 2, 1989 in Anguillara Sabazia ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Barbara was one of the most popular and high-profile film actresses in Italy from the late 1930s until well into the following decade. She has also appeared in roles in the theater and on screen. Now and then she used Pauline Baards as an anglicised pseudonym .

Her film career began with a minor role in Campo di Maggio in 1935 and quickly took on successful traits. As early as 1936 she was very successful with Ammazzoni bianche ; Her best interpretation was in Amleto Palermi's La peccatrice from 1940. Because of the war, she fled to Spain with her husband, the film director Primo Zeglio , in 1943 . They did not return until 1949, where she continued her career. Obviously, she starred in many of her husband's films.

From the 1950s she was seen in important supporting roles in many genre films, mostly adventurous ; she increasingly concentrated on theater work and enjoyed success in ... poi venne l'alba (1956) or Processo di secondo instanza (1967).
