Paolo Maddalena

Paolo Maddalena (born March 27, 1936 in Naples ) was a judge at the Italian Constitutional Court from 2002 to 2011 and its vice-president from 2010 to 2011.

Maddalena studied law at the University of Naples Federico II . He graduated in 1958 with the top grade. Then he took up the prefect career . In 1971 Maddalena moved to the Court of Auditors ( Corte dei conti ). Here, among other things, he took care of ecological matters. He also taught at his alma mater and the University of Pavia . This was followed by the call to the University of Tuscia in Viterbo for the " Jean Monnet Chair for European Community Law of Culture and Law"Natural Heritage ”, which he held for around 15 years. On July 30, 2002 he was sworn in as a constitutional judge. Shortly before the end of his nine-year term on December 10, 2010, he was appointed Vice-President of the Court by Ugo De Siervo . His term of office ended on July 30, 2011.
