Giuseppe Papadopulo (born February 2, 1948 in Casale Marittimo (PI) , Italy ) is a former Italian football player and today's coach .

Career

Papadopulo was a player in Lazio . He began his coaching career in 1984 in Cecina with an amateur club. After two years as an assistant coach at ASD Caserta , he started professional football at Sorrento Calcio in 1987 . In 1989 he was coach at Licata Calcio , a small Sicilian club in the Serie B .

After two further coaching positions at Monopoli Calcio and Perugia , he led the club Acireale Calcio to an astonished promotion to Serie B in 1993. Papadopulo then worked for Avellino , Livorno and the club Fidelis Andria , with whom he also achieved promotion to Serie B.

After brief stints at Lucchese and Crotone Papadopulo had its most successful period from 2001 to 2004. In just three years he led the AC Siena from Serie C1 to Serie A . With Papadopulo, Siena managed to stay up there.

In the 2004/05 season, Giuseppe Papadopulo was the coach of Lazio Rome, but gave up this post at the end of the season. On January 29, 2006 he succeeded Luigi Delneri at the US Palermo , where he was replaced by Francesco Guidolin in May .

On December 24, 2006 Papadopulo was committed as a coach of the Serie B club US Lecce . He led the southern Italian club to promotion to Serie A in the 2007/08 season, but announced his resignation as coach of the Salentini in June 2008 .

On April 14, 2009 Papadopulo followed the dismissed Siniša Mihajlović on the coaching bench of the first division club FC Bologna . After a disappointing start to the season, he was released at the end of October 2009. His successor was Franco Colomba .
