Paragon Belial is a German black metal band from Mönchengladbach . The band is signed to Northern Fog Records.

history

After leaving the German dark metal band Bethlehem , Andreas Classen founded the band Paragon Belial in 1994. The band name comes from the song of the same name by the band Darkthrone . In the same year he got the guitarist Ralph and the drummer Zahgurim aside. Already in the first year the demo Hordes of the Darklands appeared , which celebrated mediocre success. In 1996 the first album, also titled Hordes of the Darklands , followed on the label Folter Records .

A short time later, the band members decided to give up the project due to differences of opinion. In 2000 guitarist Ralph brought the project to life. Together with drummer Zahgurim they recorded the demo Believe Was Punished by God , which was also sold under the old label. A few weeks later, however, Ralph started a revocation and had the demo taken from the market, as he was of the opinion that the songs on it would have nothing in common with Paragon Belial without the founder Andreas Classen.

Not until 2005 did all the founding members get together again to work on new songs. So in 2007 the demo Nosferathu Sathanis - Promo 2007 and a year later, on the label Black Light Music , the second album Nosferathu Sathanis . A few days later, the label released a compilation under the name Dying Under the Wings of Satan , on which both albums were sold in the form of a digipak . The album was very successful, followed by a tour through Germany, the Netherlands, France and Austria.

The band then went through several line-up changes. In 2011 drummer Zahgurim left the band and was replaced in the same year by Simon "BloodHammer" Schilling ( Marduk , ex-Belphegor , Panzerchrist etc.). But he also left the band in 2013 for private reasons. In his place now played Emperor Symorth I. (ex- Jack Slater ), who left the band in the same year. Founding member Ralph also decided to leave the band. Irmalath (Shredhammer) has now been signed to the guitar. In 2014 he brought his bandmate André Hullmann (ex-Shredhammer), alias Rhabbazz, to Paragon Belial as the new drummer. But in 2015 Irmalath left the trio for private reasons. Thyrannoizer has been playing the guitar since 2015. With this line-up, the third studio album Necrophobic Rituals was released in autumn 2017 under the Northern Fog Records label.
