Parco Sculture del Chianti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Parco Sculture del Chianti is a permanent exhibition of contemporary works of art in Pievasciata , a district of Castelnuovo Berardenga , ten kilometers north of Siena .

description

The project was initiated by the gallery owners Piero and Rosalba Giadrossi. They built the park in an oak forest with an area of 13 hectares, which previously housed a wild boar farm. During the preparatory work, the artists had taken the opportunity to study nature on site in order to adapt their exhibits to the surrounding ambience.

The park has been open to the public since its inauguration in May 2004 and is operated by the non-profit association “Amici del Parco”. 26 installations and sculptures can be seen along an approximately one kilometer long circular route. Artists from more than 20 countries on all five continents are represented here. The material used ranges from bronze , steel and iron to granite , marble and other natural stones to glass and neon.
