Park Hoon-jung is a South Korean film director and screenwriter . After Park wrote the scripts for Kim Jee-woons I Saw the Devil and Ryoo Seung-wan's The Unjust , he made his first own film, The Showdown , in 2011 . However, this film was not very successful. His second film, New World , reached over 4 million viewers in South Korea and received positive reviews worldwide.

For his work as a screenwriter, he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2018 , which awards the Oscars every year.

His Gangster Noir Night in Paradise will celebrate its world premiere at the 2020 Venice Film Festival .
