The parliamentary elections in Montenegro in 2002 took place on October 20, 2002.

In this election, the bloc led by the DPS, which campaigned for independence from Yugoslavia, won with 48% of the vote over the pro-Serb bloc led by the SNP and achieved an absolute majority.

background

In the 2001 election, neither the alliance led by SNP nor that of DPS achieved an absolute majority. For this reason, the DPS formed a minority government supported by the LSCG on the condition that an independence referendum be held within one year. Since this referendum did not materialize, new elections were due.

Result

  • Koalicija Evropska Crna Gora ( DPS and others) - 39 seats
  • Zajedno za Promjene (SNP, SNS and NS ) - 30 seats
  • Liberalni savez Crne Gore - 4 seats
  • Albanians together - 2 seats
