Presidential election in Montenegro 2018
The 2018 presidential election in Montenegro took place on April 15, 2018. Of the seven candidates - including Draginja Vuksanović, a woman for the first time in the history of Montenegro - Milo Đukanović , who had been President of the Republic from 1998–2002 and Prime Minister of Montenegro until 2016, was the favorite. The President Filip Vujanović , who has been in power since 2002, did not run because the term of office was limited to two terms (calculated since the independence of Montenegro in 2006).
Result
In the first ballot, Đukanović reached 53.90% of the votes cast and thus the absolute majority, so that no second ballot was necessary. His greatest challenger Mladen Bojanić received 33.40%. The turnout was 63.92%.
