The parliamentary elections in Montenegro in 2009 took place on March 29, 2009. The list of the former president and current prime minister Milo Đukanović was able to expand its absolute parliamentary majority.

Suffrage

Montenegro is divided into a large and a small constituency (in Montenegrin Velika or Mala izborna jedinica). Members of the Albanian minority mainly vote in the small electoral unit. Based on the result, four reserved parliamentary seats will be allocated to the parties. The remaining seats in parliament are distributed according to the result in the large electoral unit. The D'Hondt procedure with a 3% threshold is used. A legislative period of the Montenegrin Parliament (Skupština Crne Gore) lasts four years.
