The parliamentary elections in North Macedonia 2020 for the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia took place on July 15, 2020.
It was the first choice since North Macedonia joined NATO and changed its name to North Macedonia.
Electoral process
In the parliamentary elections, the country is divided into six zones, each electing 20 MPs. In October 2008, three zones were added: North and South America, Europe, and Asia and Australia, each with its own MP. In these zones, citizens living abroad should be able to vote for parliament.
This new rule was already applied in the 2011 parliamentary elections, where the number of MPs was then increased to 123. In the 2016 election, the number of MPs was reduced to 120 because the turnout was too low.
