Parliamentary elections in Italian Somaliland in 1959
The parliamentary elections in Italian Somaliland and in the Somalia Trust Territory in 1959 took place in March of that year.
The Somali Independent Constitutional Party and the Greater Somalia League boycotted the elections. As a result, the previously ruling Somali Youth League was able to win 83 of the 90 seats in the enlarged Legislative Council, although it received almost 100,000 fewer votes than in the 1956 elections (237,134 versus 333,820).
