British Somaliland General Elections 1960
General elections were first held in the British colony of Somaliland in February 1960 .
The result was a clear victory for the Somali National League , which won 20 of the 33 seats on the Legislative Council . Today's Somaliland , which is not internationally recognized, sees itself in the tradition of these elections.
