Constitutional referendum in Somalia 1979
The 1979 constitutional referendum in Somalia was held on August 25, 1979. It was the second such referendum in the history of Somalia.
The new constitution replaced the constitution adopted by the people in 1961 and introduced a one-party state with a presidential system of government under the Somali Revolutionary Socialist Party . The main point of the new constitution was the establishment of a one-party state under the Somali Revolutionary Socialist Party . The bill was officially approved by 99.78% of the voters.
