Parodia mammulosa is a species of plant in the genus Parodia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet mammulosa is the diminutive of the Latin word mamma , means 'wart' and refers to the warty shoots of the species.

description

Parodia mammulosa grows individually. The shiny light green to dark green, spherical to short cylindrical shoots reach heights of growth of up to 8 centimeters and diameters of 5 to 13 centimeters. Sometimes the shoots are almost completely covered by the interwoven thorns. The 13 to 24 vertical ribs are subdivided into clear, large, conspicuous pointed cusps with a chin-like protrusion. The areoles are located between the cusps. The one to four (or more) straight and strong central spines are white to gray or brown. They have a length of up to 2 centimeters (rarely up to 4 centimeters). One of the central spines is occasionally flattened. The central spines are not easy to distinguish from the six to 30 radial spines. The whitish radial spines are usually needle-like and 0.5 to 1 centimeter long.

The light to golden yellow flowers , more rarely they are light pink, reach lengths of 3.5 to 5.5 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the tube of flowers are short and wide. They are covered with thick wool and a few dark bristles. The scar is purple in color. The spherical and thin-walled fruits are elongated like a tube when ripe. They contain bell-shaped to helmet-shaped, dull-blue seeds that are finely tuberous and have a conspicuous, corky hilum.

Berger (1929) and Ritterocactus mammulosus (Lem.) Doweld (1999).
