At Passanauri the white or Mtiuleti-Aragwi and the black or Gudamaqri- Aragwi converge to the Aragwi , a left tributary of the Kura ( Mtkvari ). The mountains of the Greater Caucasus, about 2600 to 2800 meters high, rise around the place on all sides : to the west the Alew ridge , east the Gudamaqri ridge and to the north between the White and Black Aragwi the Mtiuleti ridge .
