Pascal Bentoiu
Pascal Bentoiu (born April 22, 1927 in Bucharest ; † February 21, 2016 there ) was a Romanian composer .
biography
Bentoiu studied composition with Mihail Jora at the Conservatory in Bucharest , pursued folkloric studies in 1953/56 and then devoted himself exclusively to composition. He wrote orchestral music, chamber music, operas, piano music and songs.
Pascal Bentoiu was also a musicologist who dealt intensively with the life and work of George Enescu and published a standard work on the composer.
After the fall of the regime in Romania, he became the first president of the Romanian Composers' Union in 1990. He has been awarded numerous prizes.
