Rescheid is a district of the municipality of Hellenthal in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia .

location

The district is located south of Hellenthal. Landstrasse 17 runs south of the village . The village has through traffic on local roads. The Rehberg is on the local edge .

There is a bakery , a pub and a restaurant in the village . There was also a grocery store in the village until 2017 . The visitor mine Grube Wohlfahrt is located near Rescheid . The parish church is dedicated to St. Barbara. The Hellenthal municipal building yard is located here.

The St. Barbara Church is located in Rescheid , the previous chapel of which was mentioned as early as 1620. The second patron is St. Nicholas . The church was expanded several times, finally in 1890 in neo-Gothic style. During the battles in World War II , between September 1944 and March 1945, the church and the villages belonging to the parish were badly damaged. Even before the end of the war, the residents built an emergency church on the initiative of Rev. Johannes Meurer . In 1948 the renovated church was finally able to be consecrated again, but it was made much simpler than the previous building due to the lack. A mighty linden tree stood next to the church building until 2008 , which was planted as a freedom tree in the French times around 1800 . Since the linden tree was missing, it had to be replaced by a new plant in 2009.
