Wildenburg is a district of the municipality of Hellenthal in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia .
location
The district is located southeast of Hellenthal. The place is divided by the state road 22 . To the south lies Kreisstraße 61 . The Leiderbach flows to the north of the village .
The Wildenburg Castle located there is one of the few preserved hilltop castles in the Eifel . After its construction between 1202 and 1235 it was never destroyed by war etc.
The parish church of St. John the Baptist is in the village .
history
Wildenburg originally belonged to the municipality of Wahlen . On July 1, 1969 elections were incorporated into Kall. On January 1, 1972, Wildenburg was reclassified to Hellenthal along with other villages that used to belong to the municipality of Wahlen.
traffic
- Wildenburg can be reached by car from the north by first using the A1 to the Blankenheim exit . Then take the B 51 in the direction of Trier to Blankenheimerdorf , where you have to drive onto the B 258 in the direction of Aachen , to the roundabout behind Krekel . From there follow the signs towards Reifferscheid . From the south you drive on the B 51 to Blankenheimerdorf and then use the B 258 as before.
- There is a connection by train via Kall station . From there there is a connection via the 835 taxi bus. Another option is to use the 829 bus to Blumenthal and then on to the 837 taxi to Manscheid . From there, you can use a shared taxi or walk the last kilometer to Wildenburg.
(Bike) hiking trails
In addition to other hiking trails, some of which are regional, Wildenburg is on hiking trail no.12 Rhein-Rureifel-Weg of the Eifelverein (Brohl-Lützing - Monschau) and on the castle route , a sub-mark trail of the Eifelsteig . The Euskirchen district's cycle path F 8 also touches the village.
