Pascal Etienne

Pascal Etienne (born January 8, 1966 - April 3, 2010 ) was a French coach .

Pascal Etienne trained many young French biathletes, including Frédéric Jean , Marie Dorin , Vincent Porret , Julien Ughetto and Yann Debayle . His most successful protégé was Sandrine Bailly , whom he had looked after during her school days. In 1998 Etienne became the French national coach for the women's team and remained in this position until 2006. During his tenure, the French women won three world championship titles, two runners-up world championships, five third places and a bronze medal in mixed competition. He achieved the greatest success as head coach by winning the sprint gold medal by Florence Baverel-Robert at the 2006 Olympic Games of Turin , where the squadron was also able to win the bronze medal. Bailly won the overall World Cup under his leadership in the 2004/05 season . In addition, French runners won two discipline World Cup ratings between 1998 and 2006.

Etienne passed away in 2010 after being seriously ill for a year and a half. At the French biathlon and cross-country skiing championships in the week after his death, he was remembered for a minute's silence.
