Pascal Villechalane (born September 12, 1975 in Pontoise ) is a former French football goalkeeper .

Career

Villechalane moved in 1991 as a 16-year-old from LB Châteauroux to FC Sochaux , where he was promoted to the first team. In the fight for the position in the goal of the first division club , he was behind Stéphane Ferrand and Christophe Gardié, however, only in third place. After Ferrand prevailed against Gardié and this left the club, another young goalkeeper was bought with Stéphane Cassard , so that Villechalane only remained in third place beyond his first season. Cassard in turn ousted Ferrand in the 1993/94 season, which led to the commitment of Franck Chaumin and thus prevented Villechalane's rise again. After his departure, Frédéric Petereyns from SM Caen was allowed to take on the role of substitute goalkeeper. It was not until Cassard's departure in 1997 that Villechalane advanced to this post. When Petereyns was out due to injury, Villechalane played ten second division games before he had to sit back on the bench. With the commitment of Vincent Fernandez in 1998, however, he lost second place again. After relegation in 1999, he moved on to this again and was able to play another game. The arrival of Teddy Richert in 2001 marked the end of Villechalane's ambitions, so he left Sochaux in 2002. He signed with FC Rouen in the third division . Although he was also here as the third goalkeeper, he came in the 2002/03 season on eight missions. Despite the promotion achieved, the contract was not renewed at the end of the season. Because Villechalane could not find a new employer, he ended his career at the age of 27. He then worked in his own shop in Montbéliard and decided against a further career in football.
