Heinz-Günter Scheil (born November 9, 1962 in Braunschweig ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

Player career

Scheil began his career as a seven-year-old in the youth of TSV Vordorf , where he stayed until 1978. In 1978 he went to Eintracht Braunschweig . In the early 1980s he played for the Braunschweiger amateur team. In 1984 he was in the professional squad for the first time, and in the relegation season 1984/85 Scheil came on the 3rd match day in the 0-1 defeat against Waldhof Mannheim for use.

In his second season he played 18 times, and in the 1986/87 season he was a regular player; Heinz-Günter Scheil played 37 games, but suffered an own goal in the 1: 3 defeat against VfL Osnabrück (12th matchday). After relegation, he completed 39 games in the 1987/88 season and scored four goals. Scheil scored his first professional goal for the blue and yellow in the following season when he scored the final score in the 2-0 win against Hertha BSC .

At the end of his career, Heinz-Günter Scheil played once in the Bundesliga , 189 times in the 2nd Bundesliga and 39 times in the Oberliga . Scheil was relegated once from the Bundesliga (1984/85), twice from the 2nd division (1986/87, 1992/93) and was promoted once to the 2nd division (1987/88).

Coaching career

After Jan Olsson was fired on September 24, 1995, Scheil took over the club on an interim basis one day later. He remained a trainer until October 23, when Benno Möhlmann took over and became his assistant trainer. In 1997 he left the club in the direction of Goslarer SC 08 , where Scheil stayed until 2000. He then went to MTV Gifhorn for the 2001/2002 season . In 2003 Heinz-Günter Scheil returned to Goslarer SC. In the 2004/05 season he took over the coaching position of BSV Ölper 2000 .

In 2007 he returned to Eintracht after Benno Möhlmann became a trainer again. According to his own information, the request came “completely unexpectedly”, but he “immediately said yes”. However, both resigned on May 12, 2008 after the away game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . In 2009 Scheil went to SSV Kästorf 1922 . On November 17, 2013 he announced his retirement after the 3-2 defeat in the championship game of the Lower Saxony Football State League against MTV Wolfenbüttel .

Since November 2014 he has been training his hometown club TSV Vordorf, which is active in the Braunschweig 1 district league (2019/20 season).
