Pasi Martti Sormunen (born March 8, 1970 in Kauniainen ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who played for Frölunda HC in the Swedish Elitserien and the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the German ice hockey league during his active time from 1990 to 2002 .
Career
Pasi Sormunen began his career as a hockey player with Karhu-Kissat Helsinki , for which he made his debut in the I divisioona in the 1990/91 season . In the following three years he played for Helsingfors IFK in the SM-liiga , and occasionally continued for Karhu-Kissat. Before the 1994/95 season, the defender was committed by Jokerit , with whom he then won the European Cup in 1994/95 and 1995/96 , and the Finnish Championship in 1996 and 1997 . In addition, the right-handed shooter reached the SM-liiga final with Jokerit in 1995, in which the TPS Turku team was defeated.
After four years, Sormunen left Jokerit in 1998 and played in the following two seasons for their league rivals Espoo Blues , as well as the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League . The 1994 Olympian ended his career in other European countries, where he was on the ice in the 2000/01 season for EHC Chur in the Swiss National League A and Västra Frölunda in the Swedish Elitserien .
International
For Finland Sormunen took part in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where he won the bronze medal with his team.
