Pasquale Jannaccone
Pasquale Jannaccone (born May 18, 1872 in Naples , † December 22, 1959 in Turin ) was an Italian statistician and economist .
His father Nicola, as director of the Banco di Napoli, had been appointed to open branches in Milan , Genoa and Turin, where he settled permanently. Pasquale studied at the University of Turin and received his doctorate from the Faculty of Law in 1893 with a thesis on the employment contract. Jannaccone's career as a university lecturer for political economy and finance took him via Cagliari (1900), Siena (1904) and Padua (1909), where he also taught statistics from 1913, and back to Turin in 1916. He was a member of the Accademia dei Lincei and from 1949 to 1955 President of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino . He was appointed Senator for Life by President Luigi Einaudi in 1950 . From 1954 he was Vice President of the Istituto dell'Enciclopedia Italiana .
