Patricia Sampaio

Patricia Sampaio (born June 30, 1999 in Tomar ) is a Portuguese judoka .

Patricia Sampaio fought in the youth division in the weight class up to 70 kilograms. In 2016 she was runner-up in the U18 European Championships. She was honored by the mayor in the town hall of her hometown Tomar.

Since 2017 she has been fighting mostly in the weight class up to 78 kilograms. At the end of 2017 she finished third at the Junior World Championships and shortly afterwards won her first Portuguese championship title in the adult class. At the European Championships in Tel Aviv in 2018 , she reached seventh place. Two months later, she won a bronze medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games . In September 2018 she won the Junior European Championships and in October 2018 she took third place at the Junior World Championships. In 2019, Sampaio was eliminated from the European Championships held in Minsk as part of the 2019 European Games in her opening fight against the Russian Alexandra Babintseva . Two months later at the World Championships in Tokyo, she lost in the quarter-finals to Shori Hamada from Japan and to the Brazilian Mayra Aguiar in the battle for bronze . A fortnight after finishing fifth at the World Championships, she won the Junior European Championships, and at the Junior World Championships in 2019, like the year before, she finished third.
