Patricia von Falkenstein (born April 11, 1961 in Zurich ; legal resident in Aarau and Basel ) is a Swiss lawyer , judge and politician ( LDP ).

Life

Patricia von Falkenstein studied law at the University of Basel and two years of art history and English at Columbia University in New York City . She completed her law studies in 1987 with a licentiate . She began her professional career as a trainee at the Binningen district writing office and completed a university internship at the Swiss Bank Corporation . From 1995 to 1996 she was head of communications at Baselworld . From 1998 she worked for nine years as a full judge at the criminal court in Basel.

Patricia von Falkenstein has two children.

In 1991 she took part in Ueli Vischer's Council of States election campaign. From 1992 she headed the party secretariat of the Liberal Democratic Party of Basel for three years . From 2002 to 2006 she was a constitutional councilor in the canton of Basel-Stadt.

From 2006 she was a councilor in the canton of Basel-Stadt and a member of the finance commission and the building and spatial planning commission. In March 2013 she became president of the LDP. She has also been a local councilor since 2016. At the end of 2018, she announced that she wanted to run for the Council of States in the elections in autumn 2019; Her party nominated her as a candidate in April 2019. In April 2020, she announced her resignation from the Grand Council in June 2020.

Until 2015 she was Vice President in Youth Work and in inpatient and semi-inpatient care at the Gellert Children's Home. Since June 2015 she has been president of Pro Senectute both Basel and ambassador for Die Charter , member of the patronage committee for the expansion of the Basel city casino and for the Basel children's theater . She is also President of the Childcare Association. She works for the Society for the Good and the Charitable in the City Library Commission and as Co-President of the Isaak Iselin Support Group. She is on the board of the Basel homeowners association .

She is a board member of the Basler Madrigalisten and President of the Association for the Promotion of the Music Academy of the City of Basel .

Patricia von Falkenstein is a member and auditor of the Basel Academic Guild.
