Paul-Jean Hérault (often also called P.-J. Hérault ) is the pseudonym of Michel Rigaud (born September 22, 1934 in Paris ), French writer and journalist. He is best known as an author of science fiction . Here he has written over 40 novels since 1975. In 2005 he was awarded the prestigious Prix ​​Cyrano for his life's work in French science fiction .

Life

Michel Rigaud was born in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. After attending various high schools, he studied law at the Faculté de droit de Paris and journalism at the Ecole Supérieure de Journalisme and finally at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Sociales et Internationales . During the Algerian War, he served as an intelligence officer. His experiences during this time had a formative influence.

After returning to civilian life, he worked as a journalist for various newspapers and magazines, including Paris-Presse , Candide , L'Aurore and Paris-Jour . Eventually he became editor at RTL and then news chief at Télé Star . He also realized his dream of flying, became a private pilot, flew with gliders and powered aircraft and in 1972 co-founded Aviation 2000 , a monthly magazine for aviation. In addition to his passion for flying in all forms - except skydiving and hang-gliding - he does sports as diverse as sailing, diving, skiing and fencing.

In the early 1970s, he had the idea of ​​writing spy novels, using information from his aviation reports. Réseaux Sommeil , the first of three spy novels, was published in 1971 by Fleuve Noir . In addition to the crime novels, the same publisher published the science fiction series Anticipation , for which he began to write from 1975, when Le rescapé de la Terre , the first volume of his space opera cycle Cal de Ter , which is his best-known work, appeared .

Today, Hérault is a recognized and productive author to the present day. The novel Les clones déviants was translated into English as The Clone Rebellion in 2015 . German translations are not available.
