Paul Amsinck (businessman, 1758)

Paul Amsinck (born September 25, 1758 in Hamburg ; † March 7, 1808 there ) was a German merchant from Hamburg.

Amsinck was a son of the Hamburg merchant Paul Amsinck (1714–1777) and his wife Anna Maria Lutterloh (1725–1787). The mayor of Hamburg, Wilhelm Amsinck, was his brother.

In 1801 Amsinck became a finance citizen in Hamburg. He campaigned for the demolition of the Mariendom and was president of the deputation for the demolition of the cathedral in 1805/06 . From 1795 the business address was Poggenmühle 74. From 1799 up to and including 1808 Paul Amsinck was listed in the address book as an “Associe” of “Peter Godeffroy Sons et Comp”. In 1808, Paulstrasse in Hamburg was named after Amsinck . It was the first name of a Hamburg street in honor of a deserving citizen.

Amsinck was married three times. He married Johanna Christina Eimbcke (1768–1798) on June 21, 1791, Cornelia Eimbcke (1774–1800) on May 7, 1799 and, thirdly, Louise Schuback (1768–1841) on June 4, 1801. He had four daughters; one was Elisabeth, who later married the Senate Syndicus Jakob Albrecht von Sienen . Amsinck had his daughter from his second marriage Cornelia Wilhelmina Amsinck (1800–1861) portrayed by Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein around 1805 . She later became the wife of the Hamburg mayor Johann Ludwig Dammert (1817–1855).
