Paul Bebert

Paul Bebert (* 3. October 1893 in Hamburg , † 3. May 1976 ) was a German politician of the SPD , a member of the Hamburg Parliament and union official .

Life and politics

In 1911 Bebert joined the trade union movement and from 1924 worked on the main board of the building trade association.

After the end of the Second World War and with the beginning of the British occupation , Bebert took on many political and social tasks.

As part of the return of a first part of the Hamburg trade union building on September 14, 1945, Bebert, as chairman of the Hamburg construction workers' union , which later became the Bau, Steine ​​Erden industrial union , struck the symbols of the " German Labor Front " (DAF) and the swastika on the front of the Besenbinderhof .

In addition to Paul Bebert, Karl Vittinghoff , Paul Nevermann , Edmund Herbst and Erich Käther were co-founders of the unionized association “Baugemeinschaft Besenbinderhof”.

Citizenship and Party

From 1946 to 1949 and from 1951 to 1961 Bebert was a member of the Hamburg Parliament. In February 1946 he was appointed to the appointed citizenship as a member of the trade union faction. He was then elected to the first elected citizenship of the post-war period for the SPD . In the second electoral period, Bebert moved up on April 4, 1951 and remained a member of the citizenship until 1961.

Other offices

In 1945 Bebert was appointed trustee of the " New Home " by the British occupying forces. From 1949 to 1952 he continued to work in this office in the newly formed Federal Republic. In addition, from 1950 to 1958 he was a member of the supervisory board of Neuen Heim (later Neue Heimat Nord). From 1955 to 1961 chairman of the supervisory board of AGEKA (society for non-profit small housing construction mbH), which was affiliated to Neue Heimat.

He was a member of the building deputation from 1946 to 1957 .

From 1946 he was also chairman of the supervisory board of Bauhütte Nord (until 1957) and chairman of the supervisory board of the building cooperative of free trade unionists (until 1961).
