Paul Chelimo

Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo (born October 27, 1990 in Iten ) is an American athlete of Kenyan origin. He is 1.75 m tall and weighs 57 kg. His specialty is the 5000 meters .

Chelimo attended Chebiemit Boys High School in Kenya and studied at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro . He is a member of the US Army World Class Athlete Program , the United States Army's sports promotion program .

successes

At the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland , Oregon , he started over 3000 meters and finished 7th in 8: 00.76 minutes.

He had more success in the same year at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the personal best of 13: 03.90 min, he only had to admit defeat to the British Mo Farah and won the silver medal.

A year later at the World Championships in London he was third behind world champion Muktar Edris from Ethiopia and Mo Farah.

In 2019 he reached seventh place at the World Championships in Doha.
