Theodor Freiherr von Cloedt

Baron Josef Bernhard Theodor von Cloedt (born December 21, 1821 in Westheim (Marsberg) , † January 21, 1898 in Dorsten ) was a German politician . He was mayor of the cities of Ahlen and Steele .

Life

Theodor von Cloedt was a district court office assistant. Since 1858 he was married to Nathalie, born Reckmann (* 1840 in Radevormwald , † 1902 in Münster ) and had seven children.

From February 19, 1857 to May 5, 1863 he was mayor of the Westphalian city of Ahlen.

As a result, he was mayor of the city ​​of Steele between May 6, 1862 and November 30, 1876, as well as the mayor's office of Steele-Land , to which the present-day Essen districts of Überruhr and Rellinghausen belonged, with Rellinghausen having had its own mayor's office since 1876. From 1894 it was called the mayor's office Steele-Land then Überruhr. Through the law on the municipal reorganization of the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial area , the Essen district was dissolved on August 1, 1929 and Steele and Überruhr were incorporated into the city of Essen.

On November 30, 1876, von Cloedt retired for health reasons. This was preceded by disciplinary proceedings related to the Kulturkampf , which was discontinued.

In 1877 von Cloedt accepted the office of full-time render of the Kreissparkasse Dorsten, which he held until December 31, 1897. He was buried in Dorsten.
