Paul Derouet

Paul Derouet (* 1947 in El Jadida , Morocco ) is a French comic book activist and translator .

Life

Paul Derouet spent his childhood in Morocco and after completing his studies he worked as a special education teacher in Nîmes for eight years . In 1980 he came to Germany, where he became active in the comic publishing segment through contacts with his wife. In 1983 he founded the Becker-Derouet drawing agency together with Hartmut Becker . He stayed with him for many years as a team of translators, including for the series Spirou and Fantasio , Aquablue , Corto Maltese and The Techno-Fathers for various publishers.

In 1984 he was co-founder of the Erlangen Comic Salon . Since 1986 he has been leading the annual comic seminar in Erlangen. In 1986 he moved to Hamburg. In 1992 he founded the illustrator agency Contours .

In 2007 he was awarded a special ICOM prize, especially for his work with young talent at the comic seminar.

Since 2012 he has lived in Horrheim , Baden-Württemberg . In 2018 he was honored with the special jury prize for the Max and Moritz Prize , again for his commitment to the comic seminar.
